| Pattern Information PIEBALD patterns in Smooth and in Longhair, add zest to the doxie world as you add a drop of color, you add a drop of the Clown! The piebald pattern is is a RECESSIVE gene pattern, it is solid in the shape of the patches and may also have "ticking" (tiny spots). The color must be carried on both sides of the pedigree for it to appear on the puppies. This is a Hound Color It is UNLIKE the Dapple Pattern. In Dapple or in Brindles; One parent MUST be dappled or brindled for the pattern to appear on the puppies for dapple or brindle patterns are DOMINANT gene factors. Keep looking for the "Clowns"!
